Who is the rookie rival known as the next-generation racer in Pixar’s Cars 3?

Jackson Storm is the next-generation rookie rival in Pixar’s Cars 3.

Storm is a sleek, highly advanced racer who quickly defeats many established Piston Cup competitors. His speed and data-driven training represent a new generation of racing technology, creating the central challenge for the older Lightning McQueen.

The film contrasts Storm’s modern approach with McQueen’s experience and relationships. After a serious crash, McQueen trains with Cruz Ramirez and studies the career of Doc Hudson. The story ultimately becomes about adapting to change rather than simply defeating one opponent.

Storm is voiced by Armie Hammer. His dark blue design and aggressive confidence visually separate him from McQueen’s red bodywork. The character’s name also follows the Cars series’ tradition of giving vehicles names that suggest their role or personality.
