Who is the rookie racer competing against Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars 3?

Jackson Storm is the rookie racer competing against Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars 3. He represents a new generation of highly advanced racers that threatens Lightning’s place in the sport.

Storm is a sleek, black-and-blue next-generation race car with modern technology and a confident personality. His rapid success makes many veteran racers seem outdated, including Lightning, who has been competing for years.

The central conflict of Cars 3 follows Lightning’s attempt to recover from a devastating crash and remain competitive. He trains with Cruz Ramirez and studies the methods of the new racers before entering the Florida 500.

Jackson Storm is not the same character as Chick Hicks from the first Cars. Chick is Lightning’s earlier rival, while Storm is the younger opponent introduced in Cars 3.
