Yeri was the Red Velvet member who was not part of the group's original 2014 debut lineup.
Red Velvet debuted in August 2014 with four members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy. Yeri was added later, in March 2015, when the group promoted its first mini-album, Ice Cream Cake. Her addition made Red Velvet a five-member group and established the lineup most fans know today.
Yeri was not completely absent from the group's earliest material: she appeared briefly in the introduction to the music video for "Happiness," Red Velvet's debut single, before officially joining the group. This detail often causes confusion because viewers may remember seeing her in that early video. She had previously trained under SM Entertainment and was associated with the company's SM Rookies trainee project. Yeri is also Red Velvet's youngest member, or maknae.
