Connor is the Assassin's Creed III protagonist whose Mohawk name is Ratonhnhaké:ton.
Ratonhnhaké:ton is a Kanien'kehá:ka man who adopts the name Connor during the American Revolution. He is the son of Haytham Kenway and grows up in a Mohawk community before becoming an Assassin under the guidance of Achilles Davenport. His personal story is tied to the conflict between colonial powers, the Templars, and the Revolutionary movement.
Assassin's Creed III is set mainly in the eighteenth-century American colonies, including Boston, New York, and the frontier. Connor participates in historical events involving figures such as George Washington, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin, while the game's central conspiracy remains fictionalized.
Haytham Kenway is Connor's father and the playable character during the opening sequence, which can lead to confusion about the game's hero. Edward Kenway, Haytham's father, is the protagonist of Black Flag. Connor is therefore the correct name for the main Assassin controlled through most of Assassin's Creed III.
