Ash Ketchum is the primary protagonist of the original Pokémon animated television series.
Known as Satoshi in Japan, Ash began his journey from Pallet Town and set out to become a Pokémon Master. Pikachu became his first partner after he arrived late to Professor Oak’s laboratory and received the remaining Pokémon.
Ash traveled through many regions, competed in Pokémon League tournaments, and built friendships with human and Pokémon companions. His long-running journey made him one of the most recognizable characters associated with the franchise.
Ash’s television story concluded with a special series of episodes released after his victory in the World Coronation Series. The Pokémon Horizons series subsequently introduced new central protagonists, Liko and Roy, rather than continuing Ash’s main journey.
