Who is the main protagonist of the original Tekken game?

Kazuya Mishima is the main protagonist of the original Tekken game.

The first Tekken follows Kazuya as he enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament to take revenge on his father, Heihachi Mishima. When Kazuya was five, Heihachi threw him from a mountain to test whether he was strong enough to inherit the Mishima Zaibatsu. Kazuya survived and grew up determined to defeat him.

Kazuya fights through the tournament and ultimately defeats Heihachi in the final battle. He then throws his father from the same cliff, takes control of the Mishima Zaibatsu, and completes the revenge story that drives the game’s plot.

A common mix-up comes from later installments. Heihachi is the central playable figure in Tekken 2, while Jin Kazama becomes the series’ main protagonist beginning with Tekken 3. Kazuya also shifts toward an antagonist role in later stories, but that does not change his status as the original game’s protagonist.
