Which Tekken game was the first main installment released for PC? Tekken 7 was the first.
Tekken 7 was the first numbered main-series Tekken game released for Microsoft Windows. It originally arrived in Japanese and Korean arcades in 2015, then reached home platforms—including Windows—on June 2, 2017. The PC edition used Unreal Engine 4 and was released alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.
Earlier main installments had home releases on PlayStation, Xbox or portable systems, but none had received an official Windows version. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was also not the answer because it is a spin-off, despite its releases on several consoles.
The PC release reflected a broader change in the series’ technology and distribution. Tekken 7’s arcade version ran on hardware based on PC architecture, and Unreal Engine 4 made development for multiple platforms more practical. The sequel, Tekken 8, continued the PC tradition with a Windows release in 2024, but Tekken 7 established it for the main series.
