Who is the main antagonist revealed behind the conspiracy in Pixar's Cars 2?

Miles Axlerod is revealed as the main antagonist behind the conspiracy in Pixar's Cars 2.

Axlerod is introduced as a former oil tycoon who claims to have circumnavigated the world and then converted himself into an electric vehicle. He organizes the World Grand Prix and promotes Allinol, a supposedly clean alternative fuel. The plot later reveals that his public identity hides a plan involving the fuel and the race broadcasts.

Professor Zündapp, a German scientist and criminal associate, serves as a prominent operative in the conspiracy. That supporting villain is easy to mistake for the mastermind because he appears throughout the film and directs several dangerous schemes. However, Axlerod is the figure ultimately exposed as the central planner.

Cars 2 expands the franchise into spy-film territory. Mater is initially mistaken for an undercover agent, while Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell investigate the plot. Eddie Izzard provides Axlerod's English voice.
