Who is the lead singer of the Foo Fighters?
Answer
Dave Grohl
Answer
Dave Grohl
Dave Grohl is the lead singer of the Foo Fighters. He also plays guitar, serves as the band’s principal songwriter, and has been its only consistent member since the group formed.
Grohl founded Foo Fighters in Seattle in 1994 after Nirvana ended. He had been Nirvana’s drummer from 1990 until 1994, but the first Foo Fighters album was initially a one-man recording project: Grohl wrote and performed nearly all of its parts himself.
The band later expanded into a full touring group, with Grohl moving to the front of the stage as vocalist and guitarist. That role can sometimes cause confusion because Grohl was best known to many fans first as Nirvana’s drummer.
Pat Smear is a guitarist, Nate Mendel is a bassist, and Taylor Hawkins was the band’s longtime drummer. All were important Foo Fighters members, but none is the group’s lead singer. Grohl’s vocal role is especially central on songs such as “Everlong,” “Best of You,” and “The Pretender.”
