Who is the human girl who enters Narnia first in C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

The story behind the answer

Lucy Pevensie is the human girl who first enters Narnia in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Lucy discovers the wardrobe while playing hide-and-seek in the country house where she and her siblings are staying during the Second World War. She steps through it and meets Mr. Tumnus, a faun, becoming the first of the Pevensie children to encounter Narnia. Her siblings initially doubt her account, creating one of the book’s central early conflicts.

Lucy is the youngest Pevensie sibling and later becomes Queen Lucy the Valiant. Susan, Edmund, and Peter also enter Narnia, but Lucy’s discovery begins the children’s involvement in the story. Polly Plummer belongs to an earlier Narnia adventure, The Magician’s Nephew, while Jill Pole first appears in The Silver Chair.
