Answer
Jonny Greenwood
Answer
Jonny Greenwood
Who is the guitarist of Radiohead? Jonny Greenwood is the band’s lead guitarist.
Greenwood joined the group that became Radiohead while the members were still students at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire. The band originally performed as On a Friday before changing its name to Radiohead. His older brother, Colin Greenwood, plays bass, while Ed O’Brien also contributes guitar, which is why the band’s guitar roles can sometimes be confused.
Greenwood is known for aggressive riffs, unusual effects, electronic processing and inventive textures rather than conventional guitar solos. His playing is prominent on songs such as “Creep,” “My Iron Lung,” “Paranoid Android” and “A Wolf at the Door.” He also plays keyboards, viola, piano and the ondes Martenot, an early electronic instrument.
Beyond Radiohead, Greenwood is an acclaimed film composer. He wrote scores for films including There Will Be Blood, Phantom Thread and The Power of the Dog, earning multiple Academy Award nominations.
