Who is the first TWICE member to debut as solo?

The story behind the answer

Nayeon was the first TWICE member to make an official solo debut. Her debut extended play, Im Nayeon, was released on June 24, 2022, with “Pop!” as its lead single.

Nayeon had already been one of TWICE's most recognizable members before going solo. She was part of the final lineup formed through JYP Entertainment's 2015 reality competition Sixteen, and TWICE officially debuted later that year with the EP The Story Begins. As the group's oldest member and a prominent vocalist, she was a natural choice for the first individual release.

Im Nayeon contains seven tracks, including collaborations with Wonstein and Stray Kids' Felix. The EP reached number one on South Korea's Circle Album Chart and number seven on the Billboard 200. That Billboard result made Nayeon the first South Korean soloist to enter the chart's top ten.

The wording “first to debut as solo” refers to an official solo-artist release, not individual covers, special stages or soundtrack appearances. Nayeon later released a second EP, Na, in June 2024.
