Who is the current La Liga champion (2023-24 season)?

Real Madrid were the 2023–24 La Liga champions. They secured the title on 4 May 2024, with four matches still to play, after Barcelona lost 4–2 away to Girona. The result gave Madrid their record-extending 36th Spanish league championship.

Real Madrid had been among the leading contenders throughout the season, but their consistency separated them from Barcelona and surprise challengers Girona. Madrid finished with 95 points, while Barcelona finished second and Girona third. Carlo Ancelotti’s side also completed the campaign with only one league defeat.

This title is sometimes confused with the 2022–23 championship, which Barcelona won. Madrid’s 2023–24 success also preceded their Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund, making it part of a particularly successful year. Jude Bellingham was Madrid’s leading league scorer, while Girona’s Artem Dovbyk won the Pichichi Trophy with 24 goals.
