Who is the all-time top scorer in El Clásico matches?
Answer
Lionel Messi
Who is the all-time top scorer in El Clásico matches? Lionel Messi is the all-time top scorer.
Messi scored 26 goals in official matches between Barcelona and Real Madrid, the rivalry known as El Clásico. He played in 45 editions of the fixture for Barcelona, scoring against Real Madrid in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. His total places him clear of Cristiano Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stéfano, who are generally credited with 18 goals each.
El Clásico is more than a league fixture: the clubs have met across several Spanish and European competitions. That is why totals can vary in some references if they count only La Liga, include or exclude early competitions, or use different definitions of “official” matches. In the league alone, Messi is also the leading scorer, with 18 goals.
Messi’s record is often remembered alongside his hat-tricks and decisive performances in the rivalry. Raúl was another prolific Clásico scorer, but his total is below Messi’s. The answer is therefore Messi whether the question means the overall official rivalry or La Liga meetings specifically.
