Miles Axlerod is revealed as the spy behind the international plot in Pixar’s Cars 2.

Axlerod presents himself as the organizer of the World Grand Prix and a former oil baron who has converted to alternative energy. Behind that public image, he manipulates the race and the Allinol fuel controversy as part of a plan to discredit alternative fuel. His scheme is connected to the weaponized electromagnetic pulse technology used against racers.

The identity reveal changes the meaning of the international competition. Lightning McQueen believes the central issue is racing and fuel performance, while Mater and British agents investigate a much wider conspiracy. Axlerod’s apparent environmental conversion is therefore part of his deception.

Eddie Izzard voices Miles Axlerod. Finn McMissile is a British spy who investigates the conspiracy, Professor Zündapp is one of the villains’ associates, and Rod Redline is an American agent. Cars 2 was released in 2011 and directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis.
