Who is on the cover of the video game Madden NFL 18?

Tom Brady is on the cover of the video game Madden NFL 18. Electronic Arts selected the New England Patriots quarterback as the cover athlete for the football game released in 2017.

The choice reflected Brady’s extraordinary NFL career and his status as one of the sport’s most recognizable players. Madden NFL 18 was notable beyond its cover: it was the first entry in the series to use EA’s Frostbite game engine, which was intended to improve the game’s visuals, stadium presentation, and player detail. The edition also introduced the story-driven Longshot mode.

Players sometimes confuse the cover athlete with the player featured on the previous edition. Rob Gronkowski appeared on the cover of Madden NFL 17, making the two consecutive covers especially notable because both players were New England Patriots teammates. Brady’s appearance was also his first Madden cover, despite his long career and multiple Super Bowl victories by that point.
