Who is Enola and Sherlock's mother in Enola Holmes 3?

The story behind the answer

Eudoria Holmes is Enola and Sherlock Holmes’s mother in Enola Holmes 3. Helena Bonham Carter plays Eudoria, continuing the role from the earlier films and portraying the unconventional matriarch of the Holmes family.

Eudoria is central to Enola’s identity and investigative education. In the first film, her disappearance sets the story in motion, forcing Enola to leave her isolated home and navigate Victorian London. Before vanishing, Eudoria teaches Enola subjects such as chess, physical training, and self-reliance—lessons that later help her survive dangerous investigations.

The character is distinct from Edith, who is Eudoria’s friend and a martial-arts instructor in the first film. Mira Troy is another separate character: she is the identity used by Moriarty in Enola Holmes 2 and returns as part of the wider criminal storyline. Lady Tewkesbury is connected to Enola’s love interest, not to the Holmes family.
