Who hosted the investigative podcast S-Town?

Brian Reed hosted the investigative podcast S-Town.

S-Town was created by the producers of Serial and This American Life, with Reed serving as its host and executive producer. The series began when John B. McLemore contacted This American Life in 2012 and asked journalists to investigate an alleged murder and cover-up in Woodstock, Alabama.

Reed initially investigated the reported crime and discovered that no murder had taken place as described. His reporting then developed into a deeper portrait of McLemore, his relationships, his interests, and the community around him. After McLemore’s death during production, the podcast shifted from a conventional murder investigation into a more complicated story about grief, privacy, memory, and character.

All seven chapters were released simultaneously on March 28, 2017. The title is a euphemism for “Shit-Town,” McLemore’s dismissive name for Woodstock. Ira Glass was involved as an editor and executive producer of the broader production team, but he did not host the podcast.
