Who holds the NHL record for the most career playoff assists?
Answer
Wayne Gretzky
Wayne Gretzky holds the NHL record for the most career playoff assists, with 260.
Gretzky accumulated those assists across 208 postseason games between 1979 and 1999. He played for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers, reaching the Stanley Cup Final five times and winning four championships with Edmonton.
His playoff assist total is part of a larger postseason scoring record. Gretzky also leads NHL history in playoff points, with 382, and playoff goals, with 122. A common mix-up is confusing playoff totals with regular-season totals: Gretzky’s regular-season assist record is 1,963, while 260 is his postseason assist mark.
