Who has the most wins at Sonoma Raceway?
Answer
Jeff Gordon
Answer
Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon has the most NASCAR Cup Series wins at Sonoma Raceway.
Gordon won five Cup races at the Northern California road course, whose official NASCAR event is now known as the Toyota/Save Mart 350. His victories came in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, and 2006, giving him a record unmatched through the 2026 race.
The achievement is especially fitting because Gordon was born in Vallejo, California, less than an hour from the track. Sonoma’s 1.99-mile, 12-turn layout demands skills that differ from those used on NASCAR’s oval tracks: heavy braking, precise corner entry, elevation changes, and strong road-course strategy.
Gordon’s record is sometimes confused with the broader record for NASCAR road-course wins. He also recorded nine Cup road-course victories overall, including wins at Watkins Glen International. Drivers such as Martin Truex Jr., Tony Stewart, and Kyle Larson have been highly successful at Sonoma, but none has surpassed Gordon’s five victories there. The race joined NASCAR’s Cup schedule in 1989.
