Who has the most consecutive title defenses in UFC history? Demetrious Johnson holds the record with 11 straight successful defenses.

Johnson became the UFC’s first flyweight champion in 2012 after defeating Joseph Benavidez. He defended the belt against contenders including John Dodson, Kyoji Horiguchi, Henry Cejudo, and Ray Borg, establishing himself as the division’s dominant champion.

His record-breaking 11th defense came at UFC 216 in October 2017, when he submitted Ray Borg with a spectacular armbar. That victory moved him past Anderson Silva, who had made 10 consecutive middleweight title defenses.

A common mix-up is confusing title defenses with consecutive UFC wins or the longest championship reign. Johnson’s mark specifically counts successful UFC title defenses, regardless of whether they ended by decision, knockout, or submission. His six-year reign ended when Henry Cejudo defeated him at UFC 227 in 2018.
