Who has served as UFC president since 2001?

The story behind the answer

Who has served as UFC president since 2001? Dana White has served as UFC president since 2001.

White became president after Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta purchased the UFC in January 2001 and formed Zuffa to operate it. Before that, White worked as a manager for fighters including Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, and he helped bring the struggling promotion to the Fertittas’ attention.

His tenure is closely associated with the UFC’s transformation from a financially troubled fight company into a global sports brand. White and the Fertittas helped launch The Ultimate Fighter reality series in 2005, whose first-season finale is often credited with introducing the UFC to a much larger television audience.

A common mix-up is confusing White with earlier UFC figures Bob Meyrowitz or Art Davie. Meyrowitz was involved with the former owner, Semaphore Entertainment Group, while Davie helped create the original UFC concept. White remained president after the UFC’s 2016 sale and became its chief executive officer in 2023.
