Who founded the fashion house Chanel?
Answer
Coco Chanel
Answer
Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel founded the fashion house Chanel.
Born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel in 1883, she began her career as a milliner before expanding into clothing. The House of Chanel originated in 1909, and in 1910 she opened her first independent millinery shop, Chanel Modes, at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. The business later grew into one of the world's most influential luxury fashion houses.
Chanel became known for practical, modern designs that challenged the heavily corseted fashions of the early 20th century. Jersey sportswear, simple silhouettes, the little black dress, quilted handbags, and the Chanel suit all helped define her style. She also extended the brand into fragrance, launching Chanel No. 5 in 1921.
The other options were influential designers, but they founded or led different houses. Christian Dior established Dior, Hubert de Givenchy founded Givenchy, and Yves Saint Laurent created his own label after working for Dior.
