Answer
Novak Djokovic
Answer
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic finished 2023 as the year-end world No. 1 in men’s singles tennis. The ATP confirmed him as its year-end No. 1 after he ended the season atop the Pepperstone ATP Rankings.
The achievement was especially notable because it was Djokovic’s record-extending eighth year finishing first. He also became the oldest player to end an ATP season at No. 1, doing so at age 36. His season included major titles at the Australian Open, French Open and US Open, plus a run to the Wimbledon final.
The year-end ranking is not simply a vote or a trophy awarded for one tournament. It reflects the ranking points accumulated across the season, with results at Grand Slam tournaments, Masters 1000 events and other tour competitions all contributing. Djokovic secured the distinction during the 2023 ATP Finals in Turin.
Carlos Alcaraz finished 2023 at No. 2, while Jannik Sinner rose to No. 4 after his breakthrough season. Rafael Nadal, meanwhile, missed most of the year because of injury, making him an unlikely contender for the top spot.
