Elinor Dashwood marries Edward Ferrars at the end of Sense and Sensibility. Edward is the older son of Mrs Ferrars and the brother of Fanny Dashwood, whose interference helps force Elinor and her family from Norland Park. Although Edward and Elinor grow close, their relationship is threatened when Elinor learns that he has secretly been engaged to Lucy Steele for years.
