Who directed The New Mutants?

Josh Boone directed The New Mutants.

The 2020 film follows a group of young mutants held in a secret facility while they struggle to understand their abilities and traumatic pasts. Its ensemble includes Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie and Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar.

Boone co-wrote the screenplay with Knate Gwaltney. The film was designed as a darker, horror-influenced entry in the X-Men franchise rather than as a conventional team adventure. It draws its characters from Marvel Comics’ New Mutants series.

The film experienced several release delays after production and was ultimately released in 2020. It became the final X-Men-related film distributed by 20th Century Fox before Disney’s acquisition of the company’s entertainment assets. Josh Boone is also known for directing The Fault in Our Stars.
