Who directed the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts?

The story behind the answer

Who directed the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts? Steven Caple Jr. directed it.

Caple Jr. became the film’s director during its development in 2020, after Paramount and Hasbro positioned the project as both a sequel to Bumblebee and a live-action introduction to ideas from the Beast Wars branch of Transformers. His previous feature films included The Land and Creed II.

Rise of the Beasts is the seventh theatrical film in the live-action Transformers series and is set in 1994. It follows Noah Diaz and Elena Wallace as they become involved in a conflict involving the Autobots, the animal-themed Maximals, and the Terrorcons. The story also introduces characters such as Optimus Primal, voiced by Ron Perlman.

A common mix-up is confusing Caple Jr. with Michael Bay, who directed the first five main live-action films, or Travis Knight, who directed Bumblebee. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is a producer, not the director. Rise of the Beasts was released in 2023 and was followed by continuing plans for the franchise rather than by another Caple Jr.-directed installment.
