Who directed Taylor Swift’s Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, which includes “august”?

The story behind the answer

Taylor Swift directed Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, which includes a performance of “august.”

The 2020 documentary concert film shows Swift performing all 17 tracks from Folklore while discussing the album’s writing and production with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff. Its intimate setting helped fans hear “august” in a stripped-down live format.

The film was recorded at Long Pond Studio, an isolated facility in New York’s Hudson Valley. Swift, Dessner, and Antonoff gathered there in September 2020 after creating much of the album remotely during the pandemic. Their first in-person full-album session became the basis for the documentary.

Swift’s directing credit is separate from the film’s producer credits. Robert Allen and Bart Peters also produced the project, while Justin Vernon appeared as a guest performer. The documentary was released on Disney+ on November 25, 2020.
