Who directed Pixar’s Cars 2 together with John Lasseter?

The story behind the answer

Brad Lewis co-directed Pixar’s Cars 2 with John Lasseter.

Lewis had previously worked as a producer on Pixar’s Ratatouille, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. For Cars 2, he shared directing duties with Lasseter, who had directed the original Cars and remained closely associated with the franchise.

The sequel expands the setting beyond Radiator Springs. Lightning McQueen competes in the World Grand Prix while Mater becomes entangled in an international spy operation. This shift gives the film a structure influenced by racing films and espionage adventures rather than the small-town road-story format of the first movie.

Cars 2 was released in 2011 and was Pixar’s twelfth feature film. It was followed by Cars 3 in 2017. Brad Lewis is sometimes confused with other Pixar directors because the studio’s creative teams often collaborate across several productions.
