Who directed Pixar’s Cars 2, the 2011 sequel featuring the World Grand Prix?
Answer
John Lasseter
Answer
John Lasseter
John Lasseter directed Pixar’s Cars 2, the 2011 sequel featuring the World Grand Prix.
Cars 2 follows Lightning McQueen as he enters the World Grand Prix while Mater becomes involved in an international spy operation. Lasseter directed the film with Brad Lewis. It was the second feature in the Cars series and expanded the setting from Radiator Springs and American stock-car racing to locations around the world.
The sequel visits fictionalized versions of places including Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. Its story gives Mater a much larger role than he had in the original Cars, combining comedy, racing, and espionage. Michael Caine voices Finn McMissile, while Larry the Cable Guy returns as Mater.
Brad Lewis is often named alone because he was co-director, but John Lasseter is also credited as director. Brian Fee directed Cars 3, not Cars 2, and Lee Unkrich directed Pixar’s Toy Story 3.
