Who directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?
Answer
David Yates
Answer
David Yates
David Yates directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Released in 2007, Order of the Phoenix was Yates's first Harry Potter film. He subsequently directed Half-Blood Prince and both parts of Deathly Hallows, making him the director of four films in the main series—the most by any director in the franchise.
The film adapts the longest novel in the series, but its screenplay concentrates on Harry's isolation, the Ministry's denial of Voldemort's return and the formation of Dumbledore's Army. Yates's direction introduced a darker visual approach while retaining the school setting and the story's coming-of-age elements.
The directors are often confused because the first four films had different leadership. Chris Columbus directed the first two, Alfonso Cuarón directed Prisoner of Azkaban, and Mike Newell directed Goblet of Fire. Yates then remained with the series through its conclusion.
