Creed II, released in 2018, is the eighth film in the Rocky franchise and the sequel to 2015’s Creed. Caple followed Adonis Creed as he confronts Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, the boxer whose fight with Apollo Creed ended in Apollo’s death in Rocky IV.
Caple Jr. took over the directing role after Ryan Coogler, who directed the first Creed, became occupied with other projects including Black Panther. Sylvester Stallone was also involved in the screenplay, while Michael B. Jordan returned as Adonis and served as the film’s central star.
The answer is sometimes confused with the film’s other major creative figures. Stallone plays Rocky Balboa and co-wrote the screenplay; Jordan plays Adonis but did not direct this installment; and Coogler served as an executive producer rather than director. Jordan later made his directorial debut with Creed III, released in 2023.
