Creed III was Jordan’s feature-film directorial debut. He also returned as Adonis Creed, the former champion who has moved into promoting and mentoring young fighters. The film follows Adonis when his childhood friend Damian Anderson reappears and challenges the life and legacy he has built.

The movie is the ninth installment in the broader Rocky franchise and the first entry not to feature Rocky Balboa. Sylvester Stallone remained involved as a producer but did not appear on screen. Jonathan Majors played Damian, while Tessa Thompson returned as Bianca Creed.

Ryan Coogler directed the first Creed film, and Steven Caple Jr. directed Creed II. Their involvement is a frequent source of confusion because all three films continue the same character-centered boxing story. Creed III was released in the United States on March 3, 2023.
