Who did the Pretender's Chrissie Hynde marry in 1984?
Answer
Jim Kerr
Answer
Jim Kerr
The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde married Jim Kerr in 1984. Kerr was the lead singer of the Scottish rock band Simple Minds, best known for songs including “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”
Hynde was already established as the singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of The Pretenders, whose debut album appeared in 1980. Before marrying Kerr, she had been in a relationship with Ray Davies of The Kinks. Hynde and Davies had a daughter, Natalie, in 1983, but they never married.
Hynde and Kerr had a daughter, Yasmin, in 1985, and their marriage later ended. The relationship is sometimes confused with Hynde’s connection to Davies because Davies wrote songs covered by The Pretenders, including “Stop Your Sobbing.” Hynde’s marriage to Kerr, however, was a separate relationship and took place in 1984.
