Who developed the Minskin cat breed in Boston in the late 1990s?

The story behind the answer

Paul McSorley developed the Minskin cat breed in Boston in the late 1990s.

McSorley began the Minskin project in 1998. The breed was intended to combine short legs with a sparse coat concentrated on the extremities, such as the face, ears, legs, and tail. Its development involved Munchkin cats and other breeds, including the Sphynx, Devon Rex, and Burmese.

Minskins are small, short-legged cats with a distinctive coat pattern sometimes described as “points,” although the breed’s body can retain more fur than a typical Sphynx. Their appearance reflects multiple inherited traits rather than a single feature.

The Minskin is sometimes confused with the Bambino, another short-legged hairless or nearly hairless breed. Those breeds have related influences but separate development histories and registry treatment.
