Who designed the original Ducati Monster, introduced in 1993?
Answer
Miguel Galluzzi
Answer
Miguel Galluzzi
Miguel Galluzzi designed the original Ducati Monster, introduced in 1993.
Galluzzi’s concept stripped away a full fairing and exposed the trellis frame and engine, creating a compact “naked” motorcycle. Ducati presented the first Monster, the M900, at the 1992 Cologne Motorcycle Show before production began for the 1993 model year.
The design used a large air-cooled V-twin engine, a tubular steel trellis frame, and a minimalist body. Its visual formula became influential because it made the chassis and mechanical parts central to the motorcycle’s identity rather than hiding them behind racing-style bodywork.
Massimo Tamburini is often associated with landmark Ducati sportbike designs, including the 916, while Fabio Taglioni was a famous Ducati engineer. Neither designed the original Monster; the credited designer was Galluzzi.
