Who created the television series Silo?

The story behind the answer

Graham Yost created the television series Silo. He developed the Apple TV+ adaptation from Hugh Howey’s dystopian novels and serves as its showrunner, guiding the series’ long-form mystery and character-driven storytelling.

Silo began as a potential film adaptation of Wool, but that project was eventually shelved. The property later moved through television development at AMC before Apple TV+ ordered the series in 2021. Yost replaced LaToya Morgan as the project’s creator and writer, working alongside director and executive producer Morten Tyldum during the show’s development.

The answer is often muddled because several important people are attached to Silo. Hugh Howey wrote the source novels, Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette Nichols and is an executive producer, and Morten Tyldum directed episodes and executive-produced. Fred Golan is also an executive producer and writer, but he did not create the television series. Yost’s role refers specifically to creating the screen adaptation, not authoring the books.
