Who created the sitcom 30 Rock?
Answer
Tina Fey
Answer
Tina Fey
Tina Fey created the sitcom 30 Rock.
The series grew out of Fey’s experience as head writer and performer on Saturday Night Live. She initially pitched NBC a sitcom set in cable news, but the concept shifted toward the behind-the-scenes world of a fictional live sketch-comedy program after NBC encouraged her to write from her own experience.
30 Rock’s fictional show, TGS with Tracy Jordan, mirrors parts of the pressures surrounding television writers, performers, producers, and network executives. Fey played Liz Lemon, the show’s head writer, while also serving as its showrunner and a major creative force behind the series.
The title refers to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, the address associated with NBC Studios and Saturday Night Live. Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and Fey’s Little Stranger produced the series with NBCUniversal. The sitcom premiered on October 11, 2006, ran for seven seasons, and ended on January 31, 2013. Robert Carlock was a key writer and producer, but he was not the creator.
