Who created the animated MTV series Beavis and Butt-Head?

Mike Judge created the animated MTV series Beavis and Butt-Head. He developed the characters from an early short film called “Frog Baseball,” which appeared in the animation showcase Liquid Television in 1992.

MTV ordered the series after the short attracted attention, and Beavis and Butt-Head premiered on the channel in 1993. Judge voiced both teenage characters, as well as several other figures in the show. The pair became known for watching music videos, making sarcastic comments, and behaving irresponsibly in the fictional town of Highland, Texas.

Judge’s creation became one of MTV’s most important non-music programs and helped establish adult-oriented animation as a major part of the channel’s identity. The show has returned in multiple revivals, including a 2011 season and a 2022 revival titled Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head. Matt Groening created The Simpsons, a different animated television franchise.
