Who created the American sitcom Friends?
Answer
David Crane and Marta Kauffman
Answer
David Crane and Marta Kauffman
David Crane and Marta Kauffman created the American sitcom Friends.
Crane and Kauffman developed the series for NBC with producer Kevin S. Bright. The show follows six friends living in Manhattan: Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, and Ross Geller.
The creators had previously worked together on television projects, including Dream On. Their Friends concept went through early working titles before the final name was chosen. The pilot introduced the ensemble and established the friendship-centered structure that defined the series.
Friends premiered in 1994 and ran for ten seasons. Although its stories are fictional, the series drew much of its comedy from everyday relationships, work, family, and life in New York City. Crane and Kauffman remained closely associated with the show throughout its run. A common mix-up is crediting the series only to its performers, but the creators—not the cast—are officially credited with creating it.
