Who composed the score for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban?

The story behind the answer

John Williams composed the score for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Williams returned for the third Harry Potter film after composing the music for the first two entries. His score for Prisoner of Azkaban introduced and developed musical ideas that matched the film’s darker atmosphere and the story’s focus on time, memory and Sirius Black.

The soundtrack includes “Double Trouble,” a choral piece performed by Hogwarts students, and “Something Wicked This Way Comes.” Williams also continued using “Hedwig’s Theme,” the melody strongly associated with the entire film series.

Patrick Doyle scored Goblet of Fire, while Nicholas Hooper composed the scores for Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince. Alexandre Desplat scored both Deathly Hallows films. These composers are often mixed up because the series retained recurring musical themes across changing directors and composers.
