Who composed the score for Finding Nemo?
Answer
Thomas Newman
Answer
Thomas Newman
Thomas Newman composed the score for Finding Nemo.
Newman wrote and conducted the film’s original instrumental score, creating music that shifts between gentle, atmospheric passages and tense, energetic underwater action. His sound combines orchestral writing with unusual percussion, electronic textures, piano, brass, woodwinds, and other colors designed to suggest the ocean without simply imitating it.
Finding Nemo was the first Pixar feature scored by Thomas Newman rather than his cousin Randy Newman. Randy had composed the music for several earlier Pixar films, including Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, and Monsters, Inc., so audiences sometimes credit him by association.
Thomas Newman’s soundtrack album was released by Walt Disney Records on May 20, 2003, and contains 39 instrumental tracks from the score. It also includes Robbie Williams’s recording of “Beyond the Sea,” a vocal song used in the film. Newman later returned to score Pixar’s 2016 sequel, Finding Dory.
