Who composed the original score for Halo 4?
Answer
Neil Davidge
Answer
Neil Davidge
Neil Davidge composed the original score for Halo 4.
Halo 4 was the first mainline Halo game developed by 343 Industries rather than Bungie. For its soundtrack, 343 Industries hired British producer and composer Neil Davidge, who was known for his work with the electronic music group Massive Attack. His score gave the game a noticeably different musical identity from the earlier Bungie entries.
Davidge’s music combined electronic textures, orchestral writing, choral elements, and recurring musical ideas associated with Master Chief and the Forerunners. The soundtrack supported Halo 4’s more personal story, particularly the changing relationship between Master Chief and Cortana.
Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori composed the music for the original Bungie-era games, which is why they are sometimes incorrectly credited for Halo 4. The distinction reflects the franchise’s transition to a new development studio and musical direction.
