Who composed the music for the original 1996 Tomb Raider video game?
Answer
Nathan McCree
Answer
Nathan McCree
Nathan McCree composed the music for the original 1996 Tomb Raider video game.
McCree wrote the game’s atmospheric score for Core Design. Its restrained melodies and spacious sound design helped create a sense of isolation as Lara moved through ruins, caves, tombs, and ancient structures. The music was designed to support exploration rather than overwhelm the environmental sounds and action.
McCree also worked on music for later early-series entries, including Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III. He is sometimes confused with composers associated with later games, such as Troels Brun Folmann, who composed Tomb Raider: Legend, or Jason Graves, who worked on Tomb Raider (2013). The original score belongs to the first Core Design era.
