Who composed the music for The Odyssey?
Answer
Ludwig Göransson
Answer
Ludwig Göransson
Ludwig Göransson composed the music for The Odyssey.
Göransson wrote the film’s original score, creating the musical framework for Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic. A score for this story must support enormous physical danger and spectacle while also reflecting Odysseus’s separation from Ithaca, his family, and the familiar world he is trying to reach.
The Odyssey continued Göransson’s collaboration with Nolan after Tenet and Oppenheimer. Their partnership brought together the composer’s interest in unusual textures and rhythmic ideas with Nolan’s preference for immersive, forceful sound design. Göransson’s Oppenheimer score won the Academy Award for Best Original Score, adding considerable attention to his return for another Nolan epic.
The composer is sometimes confused with Hans Zimmer or John Williams, both of whom have written famous scores for large-scale adventure films. Hildur Guðnadóttir is another major contemporary film composer, but she did not compose The Odyssey. Göransson’s other notable credits include Black Panther, its sequel Wakanda Forever, Creed, and the television series The Mandalorian.
