Who composed the music for Lost?

Michael Giacchino composed the music for Lost.

His orchestral score became one of the series’ defining creative elements, using recurring themes for characters, locations, and major emotional or dramatic ideas. The music helped give the show’s mysteries and flashbacks a distinctive identity across its six-season run.

Giacchino also used an unusual percussion source: pieces of the crashed plane’s fuselage were struck to create metallic sounds in the score. That choice connected the music directly to the show’s central image of a disaster and its aftermath.

One small distinction causes occasional confusion. Giacchino composed the series’ orchestral score, but the brief main-title music was composed by creator J. J. Abrams. That exception does not change the canonical answer to who composed Lost’s music overall.
