Who composed the music for 30 Rock?

The story behind the answer

Jeff Richmond composed the music for 30 Rock.

Richmond wrote the series’ jaunty jazz score and its main title theme. His work helped give the sitcom a musical identity that matched its fast-paced backstage setting, combining comic energy with the polished sound of a television production.

Richmond was also a producer on the series and directed multiple episodes. His connection to the show was both professional and personal: he is married to Tina Fey, 30 Rock’s creator and star. The couple had met while working at The Second City and married in 2001.

The theme was recognized with a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music. Richmond also wrote original songs used within episodes, while the series occasionally featured altered versions or arrangements of existing songs. The 30 Rock Original Television Soundtrack was released by Relativity Music Group on November 16, 2010. Ken Eluto, one of the listed alternatives, was an editor rather than the composer.
