Who co-created the television series Lost with J.J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber?

The story behind the answer

Damon Lindelof co-created the television series Lost with J.J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber. Lindelof also served as one of the show’s principal writers and executive producers.

The series began with a concept developed by Lieber from an idea commissioned by ABC, while Abrams and Lindelof shaped the television pilot and the show’s mythology. Lindelof’s writing partnership with Carlton Cuse became especially important during Lost’s later seasons.

Lindelof remained closely associated with the show’s serialized storytelling, flashbacks, flash-forwards, and island mysteries. He later co-created The Leftovers with Tom Perrotta and Watchmen for HBO. A common mix-up is crediting only Abrams, because Abrams directed the pilot and was highly prominent in the show’s launch, while Lindelof was central to its long-term narrative design.
