Who co-created South Park with Matt Stone?
Answer
Trey Parker
Answer
Trey Parker
Trey Parker co-created South Park with Matt Stone.
Parker and Stone met in a film class at the University of Colorado in 1992 and quickly discovered a shared interest in irreverent comedy, including Monty Python. That collaboration produced The Spirit of Christmas, a pair of animated shorts that introduced early versions of South Park’s characters.
The first short appeared in 1992, while the better-known 1995 short, often called “Jesus vs. Santa,” spread widely through early internet sharing. Its popularity helped Parker and Stone develop the concept into a television series for Comedy Central. South Park premiered on August 13, 1997.
Parker and Stone have remained central to the show’s production. They write, direct, executive-produce and voice many characters, including several of the four main boys. Dan Harmon, Mike Judge and Seth MacFarlane are also major figures in television comedy, but none of them co-created South Park with Stone.
