Sia provides Randy’s AutoTuned Lorde voice in “The Cissy.”
“The Cissy” is the third episode of South Park’s 18th season and centers on Randy Marsh’s secret identity as the fictional pop star Lorde. Randy uses voice-processing software to transform his singing, while Sia supplies the AutoTuned vocal performance heard in the episode.
The joke follows Randy’s brief Lorde impersonation in the preceding episode, “Gluten Free Ebola.” South Park then escalates the premise by revealing that Randy really is Lorde within the show’s continuity. The fictional singer’s songs parody the sound and themes associated with New Zealand musician Lorde.
A common mix-up is choosing Lorde herself because the character is presented as the pop star Lorde. However, the credited guest performer is Sia, who became widely known for songs such as “Chandelier.” “The Cissy” aired in 2014 and also features Randy’s song “Push (Feel Good on a Wednesday).”
